WE ENCOURAGE A LOT OF WARM UP A COOL DOWN STRETCHING AS WELL AS STRENGTH TRAINING AND ENDURANCE FOR KIND OF GET A WHOLE WELL-READ DID EXERCISE PROGRAM GOING IN WE’VE FEATURED ON OUR SHOW THROUGHOUT FEBRUARY. AND WE ALSO WORK WITH YOU AND WE DO GET YOU UP AND MOVING A LITTLE BIT SO THERE IS A LITTLE BIT EXERCISE IN PHASE 1 ONCE YOU’VE BEEN DISCHARGED FROM THE HOSPITAL DEPENDING WHAT YOU HAD DONE THERE’S CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE YOU CAN START OUR OUTPATIENT PROGRAM AND THEN YOU COME TO US ROUGHLY FOR TWELVE WEEKS THREE VISITS A WEEK TOTALS THIRTY SIX SESSIONS AN HOUR VISIT AND THEN WE MONITOR YOU THE WHOLE TIME ON A HEART MONITOR ALL OF YOUR VITALS AND WE PROGRESSED THROUGH A PROGRAM TO KIND OF GET YOU FROM YOUR STARTING POINT TO WHERE YOU’RE A LITTLE BIT MORE ACTIVE AND INDEPENDENT ONCE YOU’VE GRADUATED FROM THAT PHASE 2 PROGRAM IDEALLY YOU WOULD ENTER OUR PHASE 3 PROGRAM WHICH IS THE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM. YOU’RE STILL GOING TO GET ALL OF THE MONITORING BUT INSTEAD OF WEARING YOUR HEART MONITOR EVERYDAY YOU ONLY MONTH TO MONTH. WE ALSO HAVE PHASE 4 PROGRAM WHICH DOESN’T REQUIRE THE PATIENT TO HAVE A CARDIAC DIAGNOSE YOU WOULD STILL GET A PHYSICIAN REFERRAL STILL MEDICALLY MONITORED EXERCISE PROGRAM AND THEY HAVE ALL THE SAME ACCESS TO ALL OF THE EQUIPMENT AND THE MONITORING THAT OUR PHASE 3 PATIENTS HAVE BUT THEY DON’T MAYBE THEY DON’T HAVE THE CARDIAC ISSUES YET. A LOT OF THOSE PATIENTS HAVE RISK FACTORS SO WE’RE TRYING TO PREVENT SOMETHING DOWN THE LINE FROM HAPPENING. NOW TELL ME KIND WHAT’S IT LIKE FOR YOU IF YOU MAYBE SEE SOMEBODY COME IN THEY’VE JUST HAD A MAJOR HEART EVENT AND YOU KIND OF SEE THEM IMPROVE AND SEEING THEM LIKE EVEN MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD OR YEARS DOWN THE ROAD AND MAYBE IMPROVE SO MUCH LIKE WHAT IS THAT LIKE FOR YOU IT’S REALLY I MEAN IT’S REALLY ENCOURAGING BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT WHAT WE’RE DOING WORKS WE I YOU KNOW I CAN THINK OF A COUPLE OF SPECIFIC PATIENTS THAT YOU MAY HAVE HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY STROKE AND THEY’RE REALLY REALLY WEAK THEY MAY BE WHEELCHAIR BOUND OR AT THE VERY YOU KNOW NEED A WALKER 24 7 YOU SEE THEM YOU’RE DOWN THE LINE MAYBE NOT EVEN THAT LOW MAYBE EVEN NINE MONTHS DOWN THE LINE AND THEY’VE KIND OF BACK TO ONLY NEEDING A CANE AND SOMETIMES THEY DON’T EVEN NEED TO USE THAT ALL THE TIME THEY’RE ABLE TO MOVE THROUGHOUT THEIR HOUSE WITHOUT ANY ASSISTIVE DEVICE SO YOU’RE SEEING PEOPLE COME IN AT A VERY WEAK TIME AND YOU KNOW YEARS DAYS MONTHS DOWN THE LINE YOU SEE A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT. IT’S PART OF IT’S WHAT THE PATIENTS PREFER TO USE SOMETIMES PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT LIMITATIONS EVEN IF IT’S JUST FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME MAYBE YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR LOWER EXTREMITIES SO HE PUTS YOU ON THE UPPER BODY MACHINE THINGS THAT MAKE IT SO THEY’RE NON WEIGHT BEARING YOU COME TO GET YOU. THIS IS A NICE CAR. OK. YOU WANT TO BE FASTER YEAH LET’S GO. ALL RIGHT. FOR TWO ALL RIGHT BURNING CALORIES RIGHT THAT’S KIND OF FUN. YEAH. SO IT SHOWS YOU KNOW HOW LONG YOU’VE GOING THE DISTANCE IN MILES IT ACTUALLY CAN TELL YOU YOUR HEART RATE BY PUTTING YOUR HANDS ON THESE SENSORS ALL THE IS THE HEART MONITOR TO DO THAT REALLY YOU JUST RELY ON THE MACHINE. BUT IT’S A NICE WAY TO CHECK OBVIOUSLY YOUR SPEED AND YOUR INCLINE. YEAH SO OBVIOUSLY WHEN YOU’RE DOING THIS IT TAKES A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME TO KIND OF GET ALL THE NUMBERS WITH YOUR CLIENTS YEAH ABSOLUTELY. TODAY WE’RE GONNA DO A LITTLE BIT OF A KIND OF A FAT VERSION RIGHT. SO FIRST AS LONG AS YOU’VE BEEN ON THE TREADMILL OR ANY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES THEN WE THINK THAT YOUR HEART RATE HAS HAD ENOUGH TIME TO COME UP. SO THEN WE START TO CHECK YOUR VITALS AND WE COMPARE THOSE VITALS TO HOW HARD YOU’VE TOLD US THAT YOU’RE WORKING IN YOUR HEART SO RIGHT NOW LET’S SAY YOUR HEART RATE IS GOOD AT THAT. THAT’S NOT BAD IT’S NINETY ONE SO THAT’S GOOD. ALL RIGHT. AND THEN NINETY NINE PERCENT THAT’S OUT OF HUNDREDS. YOU’RE NOT GOING TO GET MUCH BETTER THAN THAT SO THAT’S REALLY GOOD. NICE ALL RIGHT. WE EXPECT IT TO COME UP A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE YOU’RE EXERCISING TYPICALLY A NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE RESPONSE WOULD BE THAT YOUR TOP SYSTOLIC NUMBER IS GOING TO GO UP YOUR DIASTOLIC. THAT BOTTOM NUMBER IS EITHER GOING TO STAY THE SAME OR MAYBE DECREASE EVER SO SLIGHTLY. OK.
